NI Conservatives’ chairman, Irwin Armstrong, has paid tribute to Baroness Thatcher, who died this morning, following a stroke.

“Mrs Thatcher was a truly great prime minister who led the United Kingdom through a difficult time, transformed its economic fortune and changed it for the better”, Irwin noted.  “She epitomised that much sought after political quality: leadership.  She did not shirk difficult decisions and she did what had to be done in transforming the post war economy into a modern economy.”

“On behalf of all Conservatives in Northern Ireland, I’d like to extend our deepest condolences to Baroness Thatcher’s family.  She was the reason that many of us became involved in this great party and she will be sadly missed.”
