The Conservatives have selected Neil Wilson to contest next year’s Northern Ireland Assembly elections in East Belfast. Mr Wilson was the party’s Westminster candidate in the constituency, finishing third in the poll.
“I’m pleased and proud to be selected by East Belfast Conservatives”, Neil commented. “The Conservative Party is fighting this election to win and the General Election results showed very clearly that we can return an MLA in East Belfast. Only the Tories can shake up Stormont and we’ll be campaigning every day until next May, to change politics in Northern Ireland for the better”.
“The association conducted a vibrant and interesting selection process and I’d like to thank my opponent for making it a great contest. Morale in the party locally is high and the current farce at Stormont is the best motivation for our activists to get out and tell people that there is a centre-right alternative, focussed on jobs and making Northern Ireland work.”
