NI Conservatives’ co-chair, Trevor Ringland, has paid tribute to the former South African President, Nelson Mandela.

“I was privileged to meet Mr Mandela on one occasion in South Africa”, Trevor said.  “He was an inspirational figure and our thoughts are with his family and with the people of the Rainbow Nation.  South Africa was fortunate to have two leaders, Nelson Mandela and FW de Klerk, who came along at the right time, cared deeply about their people and changed things for the better.”

“The world will remember Mandela as a man who built lasting peace and who showed astonishing generosity to his opponents. Both he and de Klerk recognised that violence was not going to resolve the problems of South Africa.”
