The Secretary of State, Theresa Villiers MP, joined NI Conservatives in Belfast this morning, to launch the party’s European and Local Government election campaigns and manifestos.
“NI Conservatives are the only party which can offer real influence in Europe and we will champion change”, Mark Brotherston said in his speech. “I’m the only candidate in Northern Ireland who can bring about a referendum on Europe and the only candidate who can be part of the influential Conservative Party group of MEPs at Brussels. Both in the European and the local government elections, NI Conservatives are focussed on bringing jobs and prosperity to Northern Ireland.”
Theresa Villiers described Mark as a “top class candidate”. She said Conservatives have, “stood up for the interests of Northern Ireland, and the whole of the UK, in Europe. Only Conservatives can deliver fundamental change to the EU. None of the other local parties will ever be in the position to change the EU in this way.”
“The NI Conservatives are fielding an excellent team for the local government elections”, Theresa continued. “They will focus on bringing prosperity to Northern Ireland and I know that, if they are elected, they will do an excellent job”.
