NI Conservatives’ spokesman for sport, Trevor Ringland, has welcomed the news that work on the redevelopment of Ravenhill Stadium, the home of Ulster Rugby, can start later this month.

“It’s an exciting time for Ulster Rugby on the pitch and the development of Ravenhill means that a top class team will have top class facilities to match”, Trevor said.  “The funding for this work is part of a £45 million project to provide modern stadia for the three biggest sports in Northern Ireland: football, rugby and GAA.”

“The Ulster Branch should be congratulated for being in a position to start work so early, but plans have also been drawn up to refurbish Casement Park and Windsor Park, which is something to look forward to.”

“Since I started out in sport the facilities have come on by leaps and bounds.  The three redeveloped stadia for rugby, GAA and football will provide players and spectators with modern venues Northern Ireland can be proud of, where the whole community can come together and enjoy the sports we all love.”
